Job Description
HUMAN RESOURCES (HR) BUSINESS PARTNER, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory, to manage the HR function and related projects. Will serve as senior HR administrator, managing all HR activities, policies, and processes. Responsibilities include advising faculty, staff, and senior leadership on HR matters; managing complex employee relations issues; providing input on strategic HR matters; partnering on identify training and development opportunities; directly supervising and delegating work to the HR and operations assistant; managing the annual salary review and performance review process for sponsored research, support, and administrative staff; managing annual development plans for postdoctoral scholars; managing the recruitment function, e.g., advising on identifying headcount needs, developing job descriptions, posting positions, affirmative action reporting/compliance, advising on best practices, etc.; hiring temporary/contract employees; creating and/or implementing pre-boarding and onboarding procedures; managing/administering the visa and immigration process; serving as HR liaison to the School of Science, central HR, and Institute leadership; partnering on implementing inclusive and equitable hiring practices and training; ensuring compliance with HR and employment-related federal, state, and local laws; developing, maintaining, and reporting on HR statistics and data; serving on committees; and performing a variety of other duties.

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in a related field; at least four years’ directly related, exempt-level HR experience; excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills; in-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws and current HR principles, practices, and trends; good judgment, tact, discretion with sensitive/confidential matters; ability to manage changing and conflicting priorities; and advanced-level knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and accounting principles.
